Naming ceremonies celebrate the birth and naming of a baby, or mark and celebrate an occasion where a child, adolescent, or adult has changed their name. They are also a great way to welcome adopted children or stepchildren into the family.
Naming ceremonies give parents, relatives, and friends the opportunity to affirm their special relationship with the child and declare their intention to support and guide the child through life. It is also a time to appoint mentors / guardians / life guides / godparents, to explain the meaning behind the child’s name, to acknowledge the special relationship with brothers or sisters, and to recognise grandparents.
Naming ceremonies are conducted wherever you choose, with the words and symbols you choose.
Your child receives a commemorative naming certificate, as do the appointed guardians. Certificates are also available for other important people in your child’s life such as grandparents.
