Steps to getting married

Getting started …

You’re engaged – congratulations, you’ve done the first bit! Now there are a few formalities to work through, but fortunately not too many and I will assist along the way.

You will need to lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage at least one month prior to your wedding date (I can provide you with a copy, or you can download a PDF copy here) . This document can be completed up to 18 months prior to your date of marriage. I will need to sight your original birth certificates or valid passport and photo ID for you both. If either party has been married previously I will need to sight evidence that that marriage has legally ended.

The Process

I provide you with resource material including suggested ceremonies and numerous examples of readings, reflections, vows, ring and other special ceremony words to assist us with creating your unique ceremony. You may also want family members, children or friends to participate in some special way in your ceremony, I have many ideas and examples of how you can include these significant people.

Except for the legal requirements in the ceremony, you have complete freedom to make your wedding what you want it to be. I am very flexible with what you would like to include in your ceremony, ensuring it reflects your personalities and love for each other.

Whatever ceremony you choose I will present it in a professional way on your special day.

On Your Wedding Day

On your wedding day I arrive 20 – 30 minutes before your ceremony is to commence.

Upon arrival I connect with the other wedding professionals (musicians, photographer) and the venue coordinator, ensuring everyone is aware of your expectations for the wedding ceremony.
